Calling All Bostonian Stylistas!

Calling all local stylistas! Bostonians with a thirst for fresh fashion have got a new Thursday night destination, thanks to the Fashionably Late parties at the Liberty Hotel (215 Charles Street, Boston, 617.864.5715). The weekly spring series kicked off earlier this month, and tonight's stylish shindig, Mendoza Hearts New Brahmin, promises to be well worth the Friday morning struggle to focus at work through a hangover or a mild case of sleep deprivation. The evening's hosts are none other than Liana Peterson, STUFF's own Style page writer and the founder of Boston fashion and shopping news site New Brahmin, and Sam Mendoza, the local wunderkind designer whose clothes you may have drooled over at Stil. To celebrate New Brahmin's one-year anniversary and Mendoza's spring/summer '09 collection, the duo will be staging a fab fashion show, styling the models you'll see stalking the halls of the posh hotel while accompanied by the dueling beats of DJ Beyonder, DJ Michael Savant, and DJ John Davis. The show starts at 10 p.m., doors are at 8 p.m., and there's no cover -- now try and say that about the tents at Bryant Park.

Stop in any time throughout the day, prove you're at least 18 years old, and forget about Uncle Sam for a little while. You may not break even on your taxes, but at least you'll reach mental equilibrium for the day. For more information, visit www.theeq.com.

Bare Leg Season

With bare-leg season just around the corner, we’re definitely in the market for a new fitness routine. And of course, we’re never not in the market for free facials and cocktails, so we cleared our calendars when we heard that the Movement Center of Boston (38 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.723.8090) is teaming up with Bella Sante Spa for a “Beauty from Within” fitness and beauty event. Tomorrow night from 7 to 9 p.m., enjoy mini facials and massages as well as demonstrations of Gyrotonic (the new fitness craze that incorporates movement principles from yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming, and tai-chi) from the pros. Plus, Burton’s Grill will be providing complimentary cocktails and gluten-free bites for guests — hey, nothing wrong with a little indulgence if it gets you to the gym, right? During every away game of the season, the Fenway sports bar will be giving out a pair of Green Monster tickets for the next home game. You Could Be A Reality Star

A list that I subscribe to was recently contacted by ABC Media Productions to help get the word out about an exciting opportunity for single, fabulous women in the Boston area. They're looking for women ages 25-40 who are successful in every aspect of their life except one... finding love.
If you meet that criteria, try out for a new reality TV show, one that will give you a chance to jump into a different life in a different part of the country to potentially meet the man of your dreams. Think of the movie "The Holiday" with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet!
You'll enjoy a romantic adventure completely planned and organized just for you. They'll provide the new city, the new digs, the new guys, even the plane ticket. You just have to believe in love and get on board.

To apply, email holidatecasting@yahoo.com with your name, age, profession and a few recent photos of yourself.

Kick Ass Cupcakes

Cupcakes are more than just "tiny cakes" they are one of the desserts that many companies have decided to make their speciality. You know it's true... Magnolia's in NYC, Sweet in the Back Bay, Sweet Tooth in Dorchester, etc. Well, now in Davis Square via a company who named themselves "Kick Ass Cupcakes" comes the ultimate cupcake - a cream-stuffed, vanilla cupcake, dipped in sweet batter, and then deep fried to order. Wow. Where do you get this Kick Ass cupcake?! Davis Square... and for less than $5 too!

Chains Keeping Change In Your Pocket

I'm not going to add these to the long list of local Boston restaurants that are offering recession deals, but I thought I would let you all know about two chain restaurants that are offering some specials right now.

The first is Texas Roadhouse. They are offering an Early Dine for $7.99 special M-Th and you can choose between 10 dinners:
1) 6 oz Serloin Steak
2) 10 oz Roadkill Chopped Steak
3) Grilled BBQ Chicken
4) Country Fried Chicken
5) Chicken Critters Dinner
6) Pulled Pork Dinner
7) Grilled Pork Chop (single)
8) Chicken Caesar Salad
9) Grilled Chicken Salad
10) Chicken Critter Salad

The second is Applebees. They are offering a 2 for $20 deal. Appetizer, and two entrees for $20. My roommate and I took advantage of this tonight and it was a great deal. Everything is normal sized, not smaller portions to work into the special. The only thing (which is expected for this kind of a promo) there are NO substitutions.

Appetizers to choose from:
Mozzarella Sticks
Boneless Buffalo Wings
Crunchy Onion Rings
Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Entrees to choose from:
7 oz house serloin
Crispy Shrimp
Bacon Cheeseburger
Three cheese chicken penne
Oriental Chicken Salad
Riblet Basket
Fiesta Lime Chicken
Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad
Chicken Fingers Basket

Taste of the South End

Ok, so this sure isn't a cheap deal by any means of the word "cheap" but it is an event finding that you may not have heard of. Taste of the South End - 45 South End Restaurants ... and it's going on TOMORROW. You can still get tickets, $95 for regular admission and $150 for VIP. Ticket includes all you can eat sampling from the 45 restaurants, along with complimentary wine and cocktails. VIP tickets grant you early admission, VIP lounge during event, and post-event party at the Beehive.

All the details can be found here:

http://www.aac.org/site/PageServer?pagename=Events_Taste

Slow on the findings...

So I haven't been able to find much in the way of deals to pass on to you guys in the past few days... if anyone has found something they'd like to share, please let me know!

Also, I've deleted the posting about FELT's deal that is going on, because I cannot promote a company that portrayed blatant discrimination. For details please see my Yelp review: http://www.yelp.com/biz/felt-boston#hrid:CEslTXGys0SQYM0pi4Bwtw

Free Meal Is Never Really Free... Or Is It?!

According to some Boston tweeters, UBurger is giving away free burgers, fries, and soda on Thursday to celebrate their new location at 1022 Comm Ave from 5:30-8PM. As with any free meal, I think the catch will be the line you have to wait in to get the goods. Go with friends, get there early, and I think you'll enjoy.

Everyone Deserves Some Pampering

Everyone deserves to be pampered now and then. I don't know about you, but one of the ways that I always liked to be pampered is by getting my hair done. As my wallet goes longer and longer without additional funds being added... my hair goes longer and longer without a trim or coloring. Massages? I sucker... I mean... ask my friends nicely to give me one. My nails?! Ugh, don't ask... Well, I may not have to suffer anymore. A friend of mine, knowing I'm always looking for the best deals, sent me a link today that might be beneficial for you. I cannot vouch for the quality of OMI Salon and Spa, but it has a 4 star average rating on Yelp.com.

If you're interested in the deals, but want to read some reviews first go here: http://tinyurl.com/bdpl5n

Here are the specials in a nutshell:
$20 haircuts
$10 manicures
$15 pedicures
Sunless tanning = Buy 3 get the 4th free
$50 partial foils
Massages = Buy one get one 1/2 off
$250 hair extensions plus cost of hair

**Ladies Only

If you would like to try another restaurant that's not on this list, before you go you may want to check www.restaurant.com. They have gift certificates you can purchase for less than they're worth, and if you sign up (free) they will email you discount codes! I've gotten $25 gift certificates for $2 (normally $10).

Getting this thing started

Upon the recommendation of a friend, I have decided to start a blog... but it's not for me... it's for you. I love to network, and I am constantly finding deals/events that I pass onto my friends to enjoy, and I personally take advantage of them whenever possible. This blog takes that one step further. Rather than only emailing these findings to my friends, I'm putting them on here for anyone to find and take advantage of the deals!

I live in Boston, so obviously that is going to be where a majority of my random findings derive from. However, if I find something in other areas... I'll put that on here too. Who knows, maybe you'll take a trip and can take advantage of my random finds.

So... there you go... check back and let me know if you have suggestions on how I can make this better!
